Things to Come (a poem I scribbled on a napkin about a year ago)

I once saw a cloud of human beings
Speaking a foreign arrogant word
One thousand streams of fire burn
Passing over the human sea of nations
Clothing the darkness with ash white as snow.

Empty mouths are feeding on wind
People of long ago, continue to flow
Deceitful beauty is on their tongues
Wearisome circuits as sun sets
Sorrows increase a lulling knowledge

As pools of trees splash and flood gardens
Ravens fly down to their bed of spices
The flock sings unanswered songs amid the lilies
New humans overwhelm the soil, sprouting ash
Whispers of sweet vines grow new life.
